Does anyone know how to duplicate the set icon functionality of the
outlook bar shortcuts collection as available outlook XP in outlook
2000?

Hmm... I was afraid of this.

As an alternative, I was thinking that I might be able create a
outlook bar shortcut pointing to public folder with a customized
folder icon.

Any idea's on how I might customize the proposed folder's icon? I
understand that the icon is generally based on the folder's default
message class. Do you know of anyway around this?

Thanks again
Sean

It is not possible to customize folder icons. The only available solution is to upgrade to Outlook 2002 and use its SetIcon method.
