Set-Up Assistant Always Opens

J

Jon Dice

I've installed, uninstalled and reinstalled MSAntiSpyware with the following
problem persisting:

The SetUp assistant continues to open everytime that I click on the system
tray icon. Set Up Assistant also comes on through the start menu command.

Furthermore, when I finaly get to the System summary the antispyware
autoupdater is always inactive despite me activating it everytime I use it.

Please help.

Try this, which worked for me. Found it in "Online
Community." The uninstall feature leaves a ton of stuff,
including the folders and many files set up by Microsoft
Antispyware. I also ran CCleaner (any other good registry
cleaner would probably work), which killed almost a hundred
related MSAS registry keys that were no longer needed. I
then reinstalled, with the latest build, and theworld seems
good again....

Hello Jon;

You must install with administrator privileges.

You can repair Windows AntiSpyware using Add or Remove
Programs in Control Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and
click Change. Click Next, and then click Updªte.

Some solutions here from Tom Emmelot:

Uninstall from ADD/REM,
Delete in C:/windows/Program files, MSAS subfolders and
the MSAS folder; and delete in
C:\windows\system32 the following files:
GCCollection.dll
hashlib.dll
gcUnCompress.dll

Run a regcleaner (Ccleaner Issues)

http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp

Also use the temp cleaner of Ccleaner.

Do a fresh install with version .615 (latest)
