set messenger to work with xp firewall, how

I can't get pics sent to me nor can I receive them when I have the XP
firewall turned on. How do I set this up to where I can get pics through the
firewall?

When I turn off the firewall and restart msn, I have no problem transferring
pics. There has to be some way around this.

Go to the configuration panel of your fire wall and adjust the settings
to allow that IP address incoming and outgoing privileges

Hi Doug and thanks for your reply.

So with every family member or friend I will have to get their IP and put it
in my configuration? How could I get their IP anyway? Also, they use dial up
so their IP would be different every time I chat with them. It would be
faster to just get off Messenger, disable firewall, and then restart
Messenger.

In Network Connections, r-click the connection, Properties, Advanced and
turn on the firewall. At the bottom click Settings, and in that check
the two boxes for msmsgs TCP and msmsgs UDP. Then use Add to add at
least one (I suggest three) new items - I call them WMess File Transfer;
insert the name of your computer (from System - Computer name) and set
them for internal and external ports 6891 6892 and 6893, TCP
