Set DateTimePicker to empty/null date...

If appearances are all that matter, if you set the Format
property to Custom, and put something (like a space or
a "-") in the CustomFormat property, you can have the box
appear blank. Then, when a date is selected, you can
change the Format property back to Long or Short or just
change CustomFormat to whatever you want it to display.

Stephen...thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a
try. To be honest, I didn't see the "customformat"
before. Hopefully this will work and my users will be
happy.
