services.exe uses 100% of processor time

When certain programs are running services.exe will tie up
100% of the processor. The only program I know that will
consistently do it is CWShredder. This problem started
after installing a slimmed down version of Kazaa with
DietK. That also caused services to act up. I've
uninstalled and run CWShredder, SpyBot, and HijackThis to
clean up the left overs. The problem appears to be with
the DNS Client Service. If I stop that service then all
is well. Any suggestions?

Perhaps your HOSTS file have to many entries (perhaps due to use as an
ad-blocker?). Cut the entries down to about a couple.

Another thing could be a corrupt event-log entry (sysEvent.evt).
Delete the file if the first item didn't help.
