(I posted this in WinXP General yesterday but got no definitive response. I
hope it is alright if I post here also.)
In my Services (local) window I have a Service called UG. Right clicking on
it and then Properties provides no information as to its source or what it
does. It has no Dependencies. It is not Started and was Manual. (I changed
that to Disable.) I see no difference in the the PC's performance.
I can find nothing in Google about Service UG.
A candidate for removal?
Any idea where this "Service" comes from?
Thank you.

Many thanks. Your explanation seems quite likely the source of UG. After
many years of hardly ever having spyware, I have had a few instances lately
which were caught by Norton AV. (C.Push, NDotNet and AngryIPScanner) I
removed them using NAV, but as you say, an entry in Services probably
remained. I have now removed UG from Services as you suggested (PC Tools
article).
