thanks for this site i.have so many question ,my used computer has service
pak 1 am i protected, i can't download, should i get rid of the computer,it

Karen, you should be running at SP2. With a used computer, I recommend you
do a clean install of the OS and all applications. You don't want to
inherit all the operating problems, which you seem to have several, and
other nasties such as malware and kiddie porn. You should have received the
OS installation disk or system restore disks with the the computer for it to
have been a legitimate transfer of the license to use XP. Here is a link on
how to do a clean install.

If the system came with a set of recovery CDs or a hidden partition on the
hard drive with an image of the system as received from the factory contact
the computer tech support for info on how do do a clean install.
