If you have SP1 you do not need to install SP1a.
See here (2nd paragraph):
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/default.asp

It also says there:

"For further information about the specific difference between Service
Pack 1 and Service Pack 1a (SP1a) for Windows XP, see article 813926,
Differences Between Windows XP SP1 and Windows XP SP1a."

In my earlier reply I ought, of course, to have answered your
question by saying that if "MY COMPUTER properties" says "service pack1"
then that's what you've got!

No, that isn't so. SP1 and SP1a are identical except that SP1a
doesn't include Java Virtual Machine. Microsoft was required to
remove Java by court order because of a lawsuit by Sun.

MY COMPUTER
properties only says "service pack1".

Then that's what you have, and all is fine. No need to install
SP1a.
