Service Packs On CD

Hello,



I have a MS Access application that has a requirement of Service Pack 4 for
Windows 2000 or Service Pack 2 for Windows XP and Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8
prior to installing the MS Access application. Am I legally allowed to
distribute the required services packs as part of my installation CD, or
should I only include the URL to Microsoft and Service Packs area? I have
instructions for users how to check SP level and install, I thought it would
be more convenient to provide the actual service pack so the users would not
have to search the internet for it.

They don't have to search the Internet for it. You could give the small
exceutable which allows a connection right to the Service Pack Web
installation. Those that want the Network install you could give that link.
But if you want to bloat your software package with all the Sevice Packs
that may be necessary I would assume you could but you coukld ask. But I
want to point out something to you. If you had provided Windows NT 4 SP6 in
a software package of yours I woould never have purchased your software ever
again. That Service Pack probably disabled about 30% of those that
installed it. Windows 2000 SP1 is also a debilitating Service Pack for IIS
5 and Web folders. Past screw ups by Microsoft is a good indication for
future ones don't you think?
