I updated my service pack 4 and now it is taking 45
seconds to open up any of my office xp programs and
nortons.
 
If you also updated Norton anti-virus that is the problem. Turn off "NAV
Office plugin"

Remove the office plug-in, Go to Norton, options, anti-
virus, miscellaneous. There uncheck the box regarding
office plug ins. I've been dealing with this all day.
The work around works!
