service pack 4

Jon Lemasters

After I install Service Pack 4 the computer is very slow
to respond to right clikcing on an icon. For example if I
try right clikcing on Word in the program menu, the
hourglass sits ther for about a minute before giving me
the menu. I have tried this on several new computers and
all I have done is the upgrade to Service Pack 4 and the
same thing happens to all of them. Is there a way to fix
this without uninstalling the Service Pack.

I downloaded the msconfig file and ran the selevctive
startup with all the boxes unchecked. I still have the
same problem with right clicking.

Hi Jon,

How about Safe Mode? Does the problem occur in Safe Mode too?

Hey Jon, I noticed someone else had this exact same
problem. They posted it in the "Windows Update"
newsgroup. May want to check that out and contact that
person.

Good luck,

The problem does not occur when I boot in safe mode. When
I run Msconfig with all the boxes unchecked I still get
the same problem.
Any ideas?
