Service Pack 4 Issue

T

Tech@college

I have installed SP4 on all computers in my dept. on one
of these in My Computer-Properties, it appears as Service
Pack 4, RC 3.154 On all of the others it is simply
Service Pack 4.
I have searched the web for references to this RC 3.154
and have only found one or two answers in German.
Does anyone know what this is, is it a valid update or
version of SP4???
The computer in question was recently hacked and external
telnet software was found and removed, and it is now
constantly receiving the Nachi virus (despite being
patched) I'm wondering if any of this is related, but my
main concern is what is RC 3.154 Any info would be
greatly appreciated.

Hello,

This is usually just due to a patch that you have on the system, the
particular patch has this version stamp coded in it and this is what you
are seeing. I am not sure what patch this is from, but it should not be
anything to worry about.

The second part of your statement is a concern. If you have been hacked
and it appears you continue to be, then you would be best off rebuilding
that hacked system and patching it prior to putting it on your network. If
you do not, you will never know if there are other backdoors on the system.

Best regards,
