Service Pack 4 big problems

I installed Service Pack 4 and now it keeps rebooting. I
booted the machine into safe mode and un-stalled service
pack 4, but I need to install this service pack to install
V.S .NET 2003. Any ideas on how to fix this big issue.

I have had a client install SP4 by them selves (top points
for giving it a go) but on rebooting the machine froze so
they just hard reset the machine. Now it will run in safe
mode but Blue screens wit "unexpected kernel mode trap"
errors and then reboots, i have seen this before with SP4
upgrades but my last one i could just reload 'cause the
was no important info on board, this one is different all
info and programmes have to be kept so i am avoiding a
full reload.. I too would have tried to uninstall SP4 but
to no avail, so if any one out there can help it would be
very much appriciated.
