Service Pack 2 Uninstall

I downloaded SP2, but I started playing some of my games
and they are now messed up(i.e. won't start). My friend
had to reformat his hard drive because of the same
problems. I uninstalled SP2, it told me to restart windows
and when i did, it would not run windows again. I have
tried safe mode and system recovery. In system recovery
it just freezes at 79%(system recovery comes with a compaq
computer i think). Now, i have a frozen half of windows
computer. any suggestions of what i could do?

i uninstalled with no prob using add/remove in control panel.
