Service Pack 2 - Q327101

Hello To All,
I recently downloaded the new Service Pack 2 and tried to
install. The installation appears to go through but
towards the end, it gives me this error:

Windows has detected that one or more protected core
system files (kernel) on your computer have been modified.
The Service Pack contains updated versions of those files,
which work to provide a stable environment for your
programs. Due to this modification, the Service Pack will
not be installed. For more information, see Knowledge Base
article Q327101 at http://support.microsoft.com.

How can i resolve this issue? I've been looking for some
help online for a while now and haven't been able to find
anything.

One of the protected system files on your computer has been changed. Since
well-behaved programs do not do this, it may have been caused by virus or
spyware activity.

To restore the correct version of the file you need to run the System File
Checker. To do this, have your Windows XP CD handy and go to Start > Run. In
the text box type: sfc /scannow and then click OK. SFC will scan your system
for changed or missing protected files and prompt you to insert your CD so
that fresh copies can be installed.
