service pack 2 installation error

I have a windows XP home system that I am trying to install service pack 2 on.
During the setup wizard, I get an error message.

COPY ERROR
Setup cannot copy the file msconfig.exe

Ensure that the location specified below is correct, or change it and insert
'Windows XP Service Pack 2 Source Files' in th drive you specify.

I have browsed my entire hard drive, XP 2 upgrade CD and have not been able
to locate any thing.

I have checked the CD, with another computer, and the upgrade worked fine.

Please help

Hi, I am getting a similar error, although with several different files, the
first of which is mswdat10.dll

I've checked your site below but am still unclear as to what, if anything* I
can/should do.

*I'm considering not installing this update at all -- I'm still not really
sure what benefit it provides, other than increased firewall protection --
I'm not sure this is even necessary for me as I run Norton Personal Firewall
anyway.

Thanks for any help.

EGA,

all I know about SP2 is on that site. If it doesn't contain the
solution, I don't know it.

I think you can't get around the service packs and security
patches, because not installing them will leave too many open
vulnerabilities in the system.
