Could use a little help here. I have Windows XP pro installed with sevice
pack 1a. Installed Service Pack 2 with a CD. When trying to add windows
components I am prompted for the CD. I have redirected the source file path
to point to the I386 folder with no luck. It will not even see the I386
folder from the CD. I am stumped on how to make this work. Any suggestions
would be really appreciated.

Are you getting any messages to the effect that the version of windows on
the disk is older than the version on the HD?

The source file path should be the containing folder for the i386 folder
rather than the i386 folder itself

eg

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\Sourcepath

should be directed to "C:\WINDOWS", rather than "C:\WINDOWS\i386"

What CD are you using when prompted? The SP2 CD? If so, is it a full
OS install CD or just a SP2 CD that can only update an existing
installation of XP? Don't know? If it was free, then it is just a CD
that updates an existing install.

The conventional path is C:\i386 so the sourcepath value would be C:\.
