Service pack 1

I want to update IE6 to service pack 1

the download seems to include the whole of IE6 and O/Express

Is this a complete re-install, or is there a smaller service pack upgrade
version I haven't found?

Just to qualify - I only really wanted to install OExpress6 patch q331923

but it says it only works with IE6 service pack1

Hi Jethro! :)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, but, yes, OE is a
part of IE, so if you update to IE6 you will also be updating OE as part of
the IE6 SP1 packet.

Full IE SP1 package file to install from hard drive

I would recommend that you download the SP1 to the had drive and then
install from there to get the best results. Make sure you AV is disabled.
Also, you will need to immediately go to the Windows update to install the
Q441923 after the SP1 is installed. You will also need to install all the
other necessary critical updates for SP1 as well.

Hope this helps :)

From your headers: "Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2741.2600"

"It" is saying that you already have an update installed which supersedes
331923.

To install critical updates that this machine /needs/ (vs. ones you think it
needs or should have), simply go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and
follow the prompts.

I am running Win Xp Pro which appears to have older version of IE6

I have now installed sp1 - It's just a larger install than i expected

Your previous headers (Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2741.2600) tell us you
hadn't upgraded to WinXP SP1 yet.

Your current headers (Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1123) tell us
you've only installed WinXP SP1 (not IE6 SP1, I assume) and one (1) fairly
dated OE Critical Update. Please go to Windows Update to install other
Critical Updates you need, including WinXP SP2.

You will be *much* better off if you rely on Windows Updates (or Automatic
Update) to keep your machine fully patched instead of picking & choosing
ones you /think/ it needs or should have, Jethro.
