Service Pack 1 on TOP of 2??

ok, I was told to go to the Windows Update and update my xp pro - so it ran
thru its thing and said I need to update to Service Pack 1 - which I did
.... then when it rebooted, it would come up to the windows screen, show
briefly (like 2 secs) the uploading user settings and then shut down and
restart again - it did this several times and then I finally chose safe
mode...went into that - looked at several things in control panel but had no
clue what to look at - rebooted several more times, put in my xppro cd and
it booted up and I finally got to the normal screen - so after I was booted
up correctly I went back into Control Panel and was going to remove SP1 ..
but it is NOT listed - however, SP 2 is listed!!

Now ... what's up with that? So I went to the update screen again, and it
again says that I need the Microsoft .net Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 -
what should I do?? should I download this pack again?

when the black screen comes up in safemode...at the top of the screen it
does say Service Pack 1 (I think) as the line is kinda garbled and printed
on top of itself, but pretty sure it says 1..but in control panel SP 1 is
not listed, just SP 2...

HELP - if I reboot, I go back to the automatic reboot

SP1 for NET Framework is *NOT* XP SP1 - they are two totally different
entities.

oh gads....how do I get rid of it? where did it go? it's not in the remove
programs section - and I've tried restoring my site to the earliest date
available, no luck..

Why do you wish to remove it? You may have applications that rely on it - I
do - the control panel for my graphics card for example. It's nothing nasty.

well, because my computer won't go thru the whole process of booting up
now - since I put that on, it boots up, gets the blue windows screen, says
loading settings and then reboots again - I can't get it to go thru the
whole process unless I put the xp pro cd IN the cd drive .. and then for
some reason it goes thru the whole process and boots up - I did take that
off - but it has made no difference, still doesn't boot up correctly -

any ideas?
