I´m suffering browser hijack and I found this:

In msconfig last tab ´startup´ the guilty seems to be :

service
c:\windows\service.exe
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Now what, this is not something of Microsoft right? Or it is?....
What should I do?
I mean how do get rid of this, must I edit registry? I´d appreciate your
help because I don´t want to delete the wrong things...

Thank you!

removal instructions are:

Using Windows Explorer delete the following file:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\service.exe
Using regedit delete the following registry key:

I´ve deleted the file in c:\windows\system
But there´s no key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\"System
Services"="service.exe"

There is one :
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\

Windows service... pointing to C:\windows\service.exe...

Can I safely delete this one...?

Yes, that is what you were asked to delete.
Someone obviously use a slightly different terminology.

....Alan

Thanks! I will remove this one... I wonder why norton didn´t found
anything...
