Server Connection Timed Out

I use FP 2003 with OS win XP Home. I am getting the error "The Server
Connection Timed Out" whenever I try to publish a file bigger that 60 bytes.
I have contacted my host server and they cannot find anything wrong from
there end. I have used the MS Knowledge base and tried every fix they
recommended. RE: article 814332 . I am at a lose now as to what is causing
this error. Is there a fix.

Is the 60 byte file size accurate? It is an incredibly small file! The
typical web page is closer to 10,000 bytes than 60.

There is a known bug affecting files around 1Mbyte or larger in some (not
all) systems. These need to be uploaded using FTP, in the local web mark
them as "Do not publish", and after uploading open the Live site (the one
published to) in FrontPage, and Tools->Recalculate Hyperlinks

Sorry bout that, should read KB. I have some photos average size 4 KB, and
some Zip files. They published OK. Other files, databases, average 1000,00
KB's would not. Got the error.

Sounds like the 1Mbyte bug - it could affect files sized around 1,000,000
bytes, though I have never heard of files as small as 100,000 bytes being
affected (confused by 1000,00 KB - not sure if you missed a 0 at the
end(making 1GB files , or mis-placed the comma).

Woops again got the comma in wrong place. The file is 1000.00KB (1024000
Bytes) So is there a fix for the 1Mbyte bug?

No fix. Only the work-around I described in my earlier post.

This just might help you. It did me...

I upgraded my win98 with Frontpage 2000 system to XP pro... fine... added
frontpage 2003 and got the 1mb Bug problem.

What I found out is this... I had kept my XP pro boot file system FAT32
because... if something goes really wrong... I figure I've got some tools to
go after the data if it's still FAT... NTFS file recovery is... more
complicated ;-)

When i installed IIS I found that I couldn't configure FP extension on my
localhost webs... because my drive was not NTFS and it warned me that if I
proceeded that the permission could not be setup correctly to keep anyone
from publishing to my webs. (I"m behind a switch so that would probably not
happen but it gave me the clue I needed).

I thought... "gee permission... webs... NTFS... FAT32..."

I backed up my whole system. ran the convert and told it to run at next
start up and went to church and prayed... when I cam back I was able to logn,
check my frontpage server extensions and had it tighten down all my localhost
webs... and...

opened frontpage... walla! I can now move large files again, publish...

Good luck!
