Server 2000 vs 200 Pro

Hi, just wondering if anyone can direct me to some
references to help me with a problem. My company sells a
custom software solution which runs happily on a variety
of Windows platforms using peer to peer file sharing
against a Paradox database. However, one of our customers
has an installation that often accesses the data very
slowly even with a fast network. The only thing that I can
see that may be an issue is that they have elected to use
a 2000 Pro machine as the "file server" instead of 2000
Server. Presumably they would be restricted to only 10
user logins but can they also expect file sharing(LOTS of
them at time)to function poorly in this scenario?
Interestingly, when asked why the boot screen shows 2000
Pro they told me that it was "switched" to show it that
way. When I went looking for Server components in the
Contol Panel-Add Software they were missing, so I have
assumed that they were misleading me deliberately into
thinking that they really did have a 2000 server.

TIA

Nope.

Or they don't know. But the problem may be more likely to do with slower
hardware on that box....
