i am trying to connect to a shared folder on a windows
2000 server in a workgroup. the both the workstation pc
and server are both on the network and the users have
rights to access the shared folder. when i try to connect
to the shared folder i get the following error. logon
failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon
type at this computer. but when i try to connect using an
invalid login and password i just the prompt to login
again and not the user error. any ideas?

On the server providing the shares you need to check User Rights
Assignments in Local Security Policy for the "effective" setting for access
this computer from the network. The users or everyone [if within security
guidelines] group needs to be included. If in in a domain then that policy
may need to changed at the domain/OU level. --- Steve
