Server 2000 Advanced Hangs

Anyone every experienced this???

Just done a windows update and done reboot.
Now I cant get into internet explorer, control panel, explorer etc....

Basically the machine just goes to open the window then hangs. Can kill
process and try again but to no avail...

Is this a know issue with an update? I thought it could be virus but have
ran a diag prog from trend and sent results to them and they say there is no
virus or spyware running..

I have downloaded mozillia from a client machine and installed it through
network share via start,run and then full path to install. this prog works
the internet as it should.I think IE is screwed or a dodgy patch. I have
tried reinstalling ie but it says it is already up to date

Any ideas appreciated.

Hi Roland,

- What Update / SP level ?
- If you have 3rd Party Services running, stop them using msconfig.exe on
the Server.(copy it from a Win XP Pro machine).

- Start the Server in DS Restore Mode.
- Disable all third party services.
- Reboot the Server.

- Get an update for all the BIOS/ FirmWare/ Third party Services/ Hardware
etc..
- Try installing the Updates again.
- Try booting the Server in normal mode.

first thing i would like you to look is, if there is any apc service running
? If yes, please start the computer in safe mode and disable the APC related
service, for more reference KB:905716
