Hello,
I bought a new Compaq PC about 3 months ago. I am
pretty sure the way it works the first time you turn it
on is, it brings you to that MS registration thing where
you fill in all the information, then it uses its
recovery partition to put on your needed programs, then
brings you to the desktop. The first time I turned it on,
when I came to the desktop, I got an error message saying
Windows has Recovered from a Serious Error. (By the way,
while my computer was putting on the software for the
first software, I noticed it started from the beginning
of the startup when the Compaq logo pops up. I don't know
if that was because the system crashed, or because it was
part of the software install.) I thought the error
message was just a coincidence, I didn't have that
problem again. Recently, I wanted to get rid of all the
adware and stuff on my computer, so I did a destructive
recovery. The exact same thing happened with the error
message. Does anyone know what would cause this? Is it
possible that you are able to have a bad install version
of XP? Also, the second time it seemed to restart during
the software install, it checked drive D, which is my
system recovery partition for consistency with check disk.
