XP Home version
I installed an APC Backup-UPS Pro. I can not seem to get
my computer to communicate with it. I have tried both
serial ports and changed the port settings in the Power
Options UPS Select.
I have never had a need to use the serials ports on this
computer until now. Under System Properties Hardware
Device Manager it shows both comm ports to be working
properly.
Is there a way to test these ports?

Yes I have. I spoke with APC. The Model I have will
work with my XP however I will need their Business
version software. (APC gave me a URL for downloading for
free this software. However, they also gave me another
option to use the native software bundled with my XP
under the power options. This is what I tried
with "Failure to communicate".

Have you checked APC for updated XP useable drivers?

Most of the newer UPS systems I've seen use USB so your
serial DB-9 (?) port may not work with XP.
APC site lists USB only for the XP OS, that I found with a
quick search. Perhaps you'll find something. I did not see
any XP software for your nasic model. You might say the
exact model.

Did you get it to work to your satisfaction? Did you
download the software or did you make the serial port work
with the bundled software?
