Serial ATA or UDMA133 HD ?

Hi,

Is it the right time to build PC using serial ATA or UDMA133 HD ? What
are their difference in performance & stability regarding multimedia
(e.g. 3D graphics, video) applications ? Do motherboards claim
supporting serial ATA can support UDMA HD ?

Tks!

Why not, cost difference is minimal (Seagate 120GB 8MB is $102 for UDMA
and $118 for SATA). SATA cable also makes for better cooling inside the
case. I'm using a Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 with 2 Seagate 120 running RAID 0
and it works great.

Serial ata drives are kind of expensive compared to the rebate deals
on standard drives.

I'm not the expert, but I've noticed comments that the engineering is
kind of a patch job right now. Converter chips added on to standard
drive designs.

Some motherboards patch the serial ata through the 133 mhz pci bus.

I saw some comments that serial ata drives don't perform THAT great.
Maybe due to all the above.

Would you notice any difference ? Bwahahaha... ;)

Hey, if you've got the cash, the cable is pretty cool.
