seperating data in an excel cell

R

Rick

I have inherited an excell database from which I need to
seperate data in a cell. There are two names in the cell
(First & Last and another First and Last). I need to
extract the first (first and last name) and use it for a
mailmerge as well as use the second name in the mail
merge. The two names are seperated by a soft paragraph
(return) marker.

Is there a way to have excel seperate the two names into
two seperate cells?

Select all - Data / Text To Columns / Delimited - Delimiter = Other, Copy and
paste the separator from one of the cells into the OTHER field in the wizard.
(Copy it before you enter the wizard though)

First, insert a column to the right of your names column.

Data>Text to Columns>Delimited

In the the "Other" box hold down ALT key and hit 0010 on the NUMPAD.

You won't see anything in the box, but click Next to see what you get.

It could be a 0013 also.
