Sent Mail Disappears

After returning from vacation and running AutoArchive, I discovered that my
Sent Mail folder is empty. New messages do not appear in the Sent Mail
folder upon sending. I have reviewed my E-mail and Auto-Archive preferences.
Strangely, the Sent Mail archive folder doesn't have anything newer than 6
months ago.

How can I find the missing sent mail and keep copies of new sent mail? I'm
running a 2002 version of Outlook.

Some things:
- Double check the "Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder" option set
here: Tools menu > Options > Email
- have you added any addins in the last six months

Thanks for the prompt response, Vince. I'm still stuck though. The "Save
copies of messages in Sent Items folder" option is and has been checked. I've
rebooted. I'm not aware of any new "addins". What should I look for?

Just anything that might have been installed on your machine in the last few
months.

How about the "In folders other than the Inbox..." option on
Tools>Options>E-mail Options>Advanced E-mail Options? Is it unchecked?

Thanks, Brian. I have tried this option both "checked" and "unchecked" and
it doesn't solve the problem. Other ideas?

In reply to Jerry G: No, this issue was not resolved. I'm now using Mozilla
Thunderbird to handle my e-mail. Sorry I can not be more helpful.

Hi,
I have same issue. I have the Auto-Archieve turned OFF. Still my outlook
2003 would only show last 1 weeks worth of emails in send folder. Any
suggestions would be helpful.

What view in the Sent Items folder were (are) you using?

I also have the same problem. No new Sent Items are being stored in my Sent
Items folder...
Recent additions to my system:
-XP (KB936357) service pack on 7/12/07
-Netgear wireless router and software 4/??/07
This is a serious problem for our business. Please help if you can...

My problem seems to have solved itself...
I just checked and unchecked the boxes described in earlier posts to this
thread, and now my sent items are going to the proper folder... Go figure.

I am having the same problem. My Hotmail "Sent Messges" folder is always
empty. If you know where these are being stored [or why they are immediately
deleted?]so they can be retrieved, would like to know about same. I find
little help with any MSN or other "tech" sources. Thanks.

Have you logged onto your Hotmail web page and set the setting to save sent
messages?

Gordon: Tks for the suggestion [re missing sent msgs]; but on my Hotmail
home page, clicking on "Options" gives me none for saving sent messages. Am
I looking at the wrong area on the web page?? Puzzled!

See Gordon's post on 8-7-2008 in response to my query of same date. Possible
solution to disappearing "sent messages"??

Gordon: followup to Hotmail "sent messages" not retained. Clicking on
'Options', then on "Mail Options", there is no category to save sent
messages. Again, the 'OPtions' icon may be the wrong avenue??

Click on Options then on More Options at the bottom.
