'sending message' keeps showing but I have no messages in outbox

Can anyone help me resolve this problem. Every time I open Outllook I get a
"sending messages" then an Error message, but I don't actually have any
messages in my outbox to send.

Thank you. Yes I have checked and do have receipts stuck, so thank you for
your help. But when I tried deleted them as suggested on the page below, it
came up with a message IpMDB AbortingSubmit0:MAP_e_NOTiN_QUEUE - so I still
have them hanging there! if you have a solution I would really appreciate it!
