I have Windows Vista and Windows Mail. My problem is that I would like to
send links and/or web pages via email. I did this before with Windows XP and
Outlook Express. Only now, on the tool bar where it says page, you cannot do
this because I can't highlight the send page or link by email. I have tried
several fixes and nothing is working. Does someone know how to change this
setting? Thanks

That usually means that your email program is not set up properly and
selected in Internet Options as the default. Open Windows Mail, which is
Outlook Express with a new name, and check the settings using the POP/SMTP
server settings your Internet Provider gave you. Send an email to yourself.

I think the OP means that when in IE, and they click on Send Page by Email,
it doesn't work.
Is WinMail set as the default email program?

(Mine pops up an Office Outlook error box saying that there is no default
email program assigned... although I have Thunderbird set as the default.
Firefox works correctly with Tbird, but IE doesn't)

Hi,

The options "Page by E-Mail" and "Link by E-Mail" will be enabled only if a default email client is set. You use the "Default Programs" option to set your default email client. See:

"Page by E-Mail" and "Link by E-Mail" options are grayed out in Internet Explorer in Windows Vista:

In the "Default programs" dialog, there are two different links for configuring the default mail setting. Make sure you used the right one (as mentioned in my article).

I have done this multiple times to no avail. I am very frustrated by this.

I did not realized there was a drop down menu under custom. Thank you so
very very much. I was ready to pull my hair out. It works now.

Hi, all. I'm having a problem sending web pages from IE7. When I click on
page>send page by email, I get an error message stating that "this type of
content can not be sent. Would you like to send the link instead." Also,
some pages actually coax my email client to open but the graphics as well as
the format from the web page are missing. I'm using Windows XP SP2, MS
Office Enterprise 2007, in which Office Outlook is my default email client.
Thanks for any help.
