Send USB Power Off When Going To Standby?

I have an external HD enclosure that has an option to detect power off
and will turn off when it is detected the computer's power is off.
However, it only gets this signal when the computer is Shut Down or
when it Hibernates. I'd like it to detect this when the computer goes
to Standby. Is this possible?

Thanks

It'd have something to do with bringing a computer out of standby. USB
is commonly left available (powered) for the USB keyboards and USB mice
-- your drive is a USB drive, the system is probably constantly
providing power to it in case the "drive needs to bring the computer out
of standby"

I don't have any links, or references, but that is 99% likely the
culprit. Good luck, post back when you get info.

Yes, I know that is the problem, I am looking for a solution - to cut
off power to USB when going to Standby just like it does when
Hibernating.

Is there a way to have Windows shut off one USB port when put into
Standby? What I am doing is running MCE and would like my HD enclosure
to auto shut off when I put the computer into Standby, but still be
able to start it back up using my MCE remote via the USB infared
receiver. This would probably need a lot of weird tweaking if it's
possible at all, but I don't see anywhere where I can do this with what
comes with XP.

Thanks

Natively, XP cannot power down an external USB hard drive. Even
if the Root Hub (Port/Socket) went to a power savings mode - the
internal, physical drive in the enclosure will continue to spin. You can
selectively set which Hubs use/allow Power Savings mode. Since all
USB 2.0 devices are served by a single HUB it's sometimes difficult
to find which HUB it is in the Device Manager listing. You can usually
find it by checking the Power (TAB) on each hub. With one or more
USB 2 devices connected you'll see them listed in the power table.

Are you refering to the power management tab in device manager?

As for the enclosure, it has a setting that is auto shutoff, but it
only works when the USB power is shut off.

Thanks
