Send emails as reminders to be delivered at a future date

Outlook should allow you to create and send an email for delivery at a future
date of your choosing. My example would be that today, April 25th, I could
send an email to myself that I would choose to be delivered to my inbox on
December 11th, my Dad's birthday, reminding me to call him. I could also
send a future email to myself or a client/employee reminding them of an
upcoming appointment or deadline.

I realize that I can use the calender to set an appointment and a reminder
but I'd like to see the email in my inbox until deleted as opposed to
whisking away a reminder.

What stops you? Open a mail compose window, compose your reminder, address
it to yourself, then, before you click Send, click View>Options and select
the "Do not deliver before" option, specifying the day you want it
delivered. Outlook must be running when the time comes, if you're not using
Exchange as your mail server, but it seems to do what you want.

The point is being missed here: I would love for this to be a simple task.
Check one box that says, "Send reminders for birthdays ___ days in advance."
Otherwise, I'm having to create 150 of these e-mails and (I believe) am
flooding my outbox unecessarily, creating more issues. A "future send"
outbox could also be helpful.

why would you want a message stuck in your outbox - set a reminder on the
birthday instead.

Exactly. I wouldn't want a message in my outbox. You're right there.

I guess I'm reacting to the effectiveness of e-mails over reminders.
Reminders are easy to put away. E-mails tend to be more task oriented, which
would be a great option to have.
