Send and Receive Action Won't Stop

Please help! My Outlook's send and receive task willl not stop running
unless I minimize the screen. It has just started doing this today. My ISP
said it was because my wireless internet signal is low so I moved to a better
location but the problem still exists. I can't get anything done with
Outlook because it's constantly checking for messages every half second. Why
is this happening??? It's driving me crazy!
 
Did you check Tools/Options/Mail Setup/Send/Receive? It may be set to run a
Send/Receive every so seconds.
 
Thanks Helen for the suggestion. The problem has been fixed. Apparently
spyware was infecting some of my registry files and once the spyware had been
removed, the Outlook is back to its regular self...thank God!
