Send a fax from my PC using broadband *not* dialup

Every now and again I need to send a fax internationally (or locally -
I'm in the UK). Is there something I can use to fax using my PC with a
boradband connection - i.e. no dialup?

In the UK, I use a cheap number to send a fax from the office machine so
the cost is low e.g. 1p/min to USA. I don't always want to have to send
from the office (print the fax, out in machine and send) but ideally
would like to print/send a Word document via fax from home using my PC
without having to print it in the first place - saves paper and ink!
Thanks

Haven't found that but it's quite easy to fit a fax modem to a PC. If
you use a cheap phone service (I use call18866) you just need to set
that up as the dialling prefix.

I do not have a landline phone at home. I live where I work so there is
broadband provided in the home but phoneline is extra - that's why I
asked baout broadband and not dial-up - thanks

Do you want to send to people who are also on the internet, or do you
want to send to fax machines that are connected to phone lines?

I would like to send to a fax machine as there are times when I need to
fax a company etc. Thanks

the only options available to you is to pay for the fax services offered
by at least a dozen companies. If you google or yahoo, "fax from PC"
you'll find some reputable companies. Some are free to receive but
charge to send out, while others work as a per document charge. There
just isn't freeware written.

The only relatively FREE option you have is to scan your items, and send
them as attachments via email.

Here's something you might try -

And you might find something here -

Would using CopyMax at OfficeMax.com be an option? You upload your document
and they can print it or fax it, but there is a small fee.
