I wonder how many, after getting the retail version of Vista after it is released for sale at the end of January, will be auctioning off their beta copies on eBay?

Who knows but the beta's end June 1, 2007.

I guess those that don't know about the internal expiration time bomb. =0}

Plus, some posters here say the product keys become invalid after the expiration.

I checked a few days ago. There already are "official" copies being offered (or were). People trying to sell the DVD's they received from Microsoft for RC1.

eBay = den of thieves, IMHO.

Aside from people who like to collect Windows memorabilia and Beta builds,
and nothing wrong with that (those can often be easily obtained at computer
shows often called "swap meets" in my country as can older Windows versions
and editions of versions and Office, why would you pay anything for a Beta
copy when you can obtain them for free and presumably although lol there are
no guarantees, RTM is better than "most of the Betas" as a theoretical
construct?

I like the RTM is better than most betas.

I had a very very early version of longhorn, this was before it was called
vista.

it had no glass, it was so so so slow.

but it had WinFS, and outlook express used it.

its was cool, you ran it for 1 hour then rebooted.

if you did a help about on outlook express, the about box and a blue
background and the number 7 was just 'stuck' over the number 6, it stood out
a mile as it had a white background, all the small print version info said
it was version 6.

The Beta Product Keys will become invalid for Activation the moment
Microsoft stops activating.
At that point, any future installations will be limited to 30/45 days
depending on the build. those.
