selecting and unselecting?

In selecting and unselecting, what's the difference between a check and a
solid square? There are three selection options at Word Office Assistant
Options, "Help with wizards": blank, check, or solid square.

Blank means the option (whatever it is) is *not* selected
Check means it *is* selected and will apply to all the items you're trying
to apply it to.

Solid square means mixed or undefined - in other words not the same for all
the items in question - it is shown if there is a mixture of options on the
items you are working with and can be left at that to make no change - it
has no precise meaning except that some items have one value, others
another.
