selecting addresses in access 97 mail merge

I'm a novice to access. but have set up a simple name & address database in
accress '97 just for printing envelope labels at work, but how can I select
or de-select which ones I want to print. In access 2002 it gives the option
of ticking or un-ticking rows.
 
What prints is based on a query you build. If you want to select particular
records, you would have to add a field to the table and mark it, then select
records in your query based on that field.
