After lots of tinkering with different freeware solutions, I arrived at
the following:

Password Manager - KeePass. Strong security algorithm, lots of
automated features that make it safer to use (keyfile+password
protection, passwords copied to clipboard are erased from memory after
single use, autotype into browser window that can bypass keyloggers,
many more to mention here). Open source and extremely reliable, has
PocketPC freeware counterpart (although this one lacks some features).
The runner-up was Tombo, that allows saving AES encrypted plain text
files that can be arranged in a tree-like format in program's window.
Also has a full featured Pocket PC counterpart, but lacks the
automation / some security features available in KeePass.

File / folder security - Truecrypt. On-the-fly encryption, open source,
strong algorythms, traveller mode, actively developing, reliable. The
other one I liked was Dekart Private Disk Lite.

Antivirus - Grisoft AVG. Not as resource-hungry as the other
alternatives, very simple to use, clean interface, seamless daily
updates / scans. The other one I used was Avast, but it was quite a
memory hog and not as reliable.

Firewall - Sygate. Simple, inobtrusive, very reliable. Couldn't yet
find a decent alternative to try.

What is everyone else using ?
