Security using toolbar

I have created a database which will be used by approx 50 people. I
have hidden the Database window at startup but obviously this can be
brought forward by pressing the database window button on toolbar.

I remember using a database at my previous job which had the toolbars
locked/greyed out so you couldn't get to the functionality behind the
database. I would like to do something similar with mine. How do I go
about this?

You can lock down quite a bit using the settings in Tools, Startup. You'll
want to maybe create your own custom menus/toolbars for use in your
application.

Albert Kallal has an example on his website demonstrating how to lock down
your database.
It's the 3rd example at
http://www.members.shaw.ca/AlbertKallal/msaccess/DownLoad.htm

You can try it, and then open it again while holding down the shiftkey to
bypass the startup options. Go to Tools, Startup and you'll see what he
did.

If you think your users will use the shift key to bypass the startup, you
can disable that too.

That's great thanks. I did want to avoid having to build custom
toolbars but I guess I can't.

Thank you very much.
