I just redid my computer and now I get a message--windows has blocked
swflash.cab because it can't verify the publisher. I never used to get this
message. What does it mean and how to I correct it

Might be a .cab file containing files for Shockwave. Shockwave, from
Macromedia, runs as an ActiveX control. After installing it, you end up
with a swflash.ocx, swflash.inf, and swflash.pnf files. There is no
swflash.cab file included in the on-demand install from their site. Maybe
you have a downloaded installtion for Shockwave which yanks files out of the
..cab file, but only you know what is inside the .cab file. If the file
compression support in Explorer for .cab files won't show its contents (by
right-clicking and Extract) then use the DOS extract.exe command to yank
files out of the .cab file to see what is in there (run "extract /?" for
help).

Personally I wouldn't bother with some old .cab file for an old version of
Shockwave and instead get it from Macromedia's web site. Could be the web
page you are visiting requires Shockwave or the Flash Player but they aren't
installing it correctly plus you can't be sure what they are pushing at you,
so go to Macromedia's site to get it.

I am having the same problem. What did you do to solve the problem? I
contacted Microsoft and they ran me through a list registry edits but
that did not help.
