My windows 2000 domain controllers recently started generating alot of
675 errors - coming from exchange 2000 mail servers (running on windows 2000
servers or domain controllers - Active directory is 2000 mixed mode) as well
as windows 2000 pro client machines :
Pre-authentication failed:
User Name: server$
User ID: domain\server$
Service Name: krbtgt/domain
Pre-Authentication Type: 0x2
Failure Code: 0x18
Client Address: 192.168.0.5
Recent environment changes include:
switching exchange 2000 to native mode (last 5.5 server removed long ago but
only switched modes recently)
addition of 1st exchange 2003 server on windows 2003 server (ran domain &
forest prep as part of that - netdiag & dcdiag also ran clean )
enabled scavenging of stale dns records
additionally I get the following errors:
event id 565
category : directory services access
type: failure
