Security for LDAP external BIND

Hello,

I am using PeopleSoft's delivered Business Interlink to authenticate
users on Active Directory. I can connect fine with the administrator
password and am able to bind with the admin id and authenticate and
search for users.

The question I have is what is the minimal security required for a
userid to be able to bind and search out users with AD? I would
rather not have the admin id and password used for these calls to AD
from PeopleSoft.

Unless you have really mucked with your AD permissions ANY forest level ID should work, even if it were only part of the
domain users group.
