Security file path resetting

Hi,

We have some computers in use that have both Access 97 and Access 2000
installed on them as they use database applications in both environments.
We also have a security file in a shared location for access by the whole
company. The problem is that, for example, when they use Access 2000 after using
Access 97, 2000 has reset the path to the security file to the local copy.
Wrkgadm.exe must be invoked to change to path to this file back to the
shared one. The converse also happens, after using 2000 the path for the
security file for 97 is reset.

Is there a file that we can set as read-only so that the changes we make
are permanent and won't be reset the next time an application in started?
Is there some other way to make this scenario work?
