Security baseline analyser

After installing service pack 2 i downloaded Version
1.2.1 of microsoft baseline security analyser to replace
my installed version 1.2. The installer correctly
identified my older version but when it tried to unistall
it the install hung. I would them have to re-boot. I
tried un-intalling v1.2 from the add/remove programs
screen but again the un-install haung and i had to
reboot. I eventually manually unistalled v1.2 by deleting
its folder and all associated registry entries. However
when I try to install v1.2.1 it hangs after about 50% and
I have to reboot. I have downloaded the file again incase
I had a corrupted download but no change from before. Any
ideas?

This unfortunately will not help you, but I had MBSA 1.2 installed prior
to SP2. Post SP2 I started MBSA 1.2 and at the bottom of its first
screen, it offered a link to upgrade to 1.2.1, which worked smoothly for
me.

Thanks for your message. I'm having problems with system
restore at the moment hanging when I try and create a
restore point. When I turned off system restore, security
analyser installed fine.

Thanks again.
