Secure Site; Page cannot be displayed

I am unable to open any https sites. I get the "Can't find server" page.
However I have no problem with any http sites. I have Win98SE; IE
6.0.2800.11061IC / SP1,on an HP pavilion with Norton System Works. I use a
Comcast Cable connection. Comcast believes it's a software problem. I have
tried uninstall, reinstall IE6, new script, new java. Any suggestions ?

Thanks for the suggestion, however I have Win 98 SE.
