Sector errors - weird, strange? help!!

Ok, here is the situation. I installed a program called PRo Magic
which came with my AOPEN motherboard,- which is like GO BACK,
basically a system backup program, so if there are errors and crashes,
you can recover.

Right after installing the program, which crashes and crashes until it
figures it is ready. Anyways, right after installing it, I found BAD
SECTORS - as a side note - I check for BAD SECTORS religiously (four
times a day as well as defragmenting) and had checked just before I
installed the program
(This is a brand new 80 meg hard drive - I had a bad sectored HD
preiviously I had to return).

Back to the story, I found BAD SECTORS - about 1.4 megs worth. Then
I rebooted and found additional 9 MEGs worth. Needless to say, I was
beside myself. I went and got the Maxtor Diagnostic tool and it said
- clean, no problems. So I rebooted and the Pro Magic said it was not
allowed to boot because of errors - so I did the RESTORE to previous
state.

I restored and booted...now it says - NO ERRORS-.

0 errors

WHAT THE F^&$%$%$K???!?!?! I don't understand what is going on here?

I know that if I reboot, it is going to find errors AGAIN. Not sure
what to do about this...I don't want to take the hard drive back to
the store AGAIN, this guy is going to think I am crazy. BTW, I have
checked and doubled checked with two separate VIRUS programs and I
don't have a virus.

Thanks thanks again.

There are two types of bad sectors... physically bad, where the drive
writes the data and it can't be read, and logically bad, where the
drive is working fine but on the way to or from the drive, it's
corrupted. The OS, not knowing what happened, decides it's a bad
sector.

If it were me the first thing I would do is run Memtest86 for several
hours:
