section pages do not reflect accurate information

I have a {page} of {sectionpages} but it reflects wrong information. My
status line says that my last page in the section is 5 but the section page
reflects 6. Even on the last page it says 5 of 6 (when there is no page 6).
Does anybody know why? Help appreciated.

If you have used an Odd Page section start and Word has inserted a blank
even page, unfortunately it counts that page as part of the section.
Although this is logical (it does follow the section break), it's very
maddening.

Thank SO much Suzanne, you are right !!!!

I have been using your MVP notes as a guide - they are great. I have
inserted another page but because it is an Index it has put a new section. I
will work on it a bit longer.
