SecondLife + Vista

Not exactly a Vista issue but interesting non-the-less.

I installed the latest SL client and was messing around with the voice chat.
Note that Linden Labs does not suggest that it is suitable for Vista...

SL crashed (it does that a lot) and I was off doing something else when I
heard voices. It seems that when SL crashed, it left the voice server up and
running so even though I was not logged in, the voice link was still active!
At one point, I had no applications of any kind running and was holding a
conversation with I know not who.

Good thing I was alone here. Nothing like having an open mike brodcasting to
who knows where...

I've disabled the voice option by turning it off and renaming the two
executables in the SL program directory.

I know this is off topic, but about 7 or 8 months ago, I wanted to see what
all the buz was about in SecondLife. I logged in created a character,
traveled around, but it seemed like everthing costs money. You can talk to
others but anything other than that cost cash.

What is the attraction to this game? There are hundreds of games to play
on the PC, Xbox, Playstation, and you can play others online for a small
fee.

Don't wish to discuss SecondLife here but... Your comment is very common - a
lot of people try it and say "What's the point?" The short answer is it's
not really a game. You don't win or lose anything. You build stuff, talk to
people, etc. Some like it, others hate it.
