Second network adapter

The device manager is showing two network adapters on the
laptop. The user is losing network connectivity. First one
is the Intel Pro 100 NIC the standard adapter. The second
listing is a Win Miniport (IPX). Is the computer trying
to access the network through the miniport instead of the
Intel? Any help would be appreciated.
